A lot happened yesterday.

I don’t think I have fully processed everything that went down over the last several days for the Mets.

The Mets traded three pitchers, two 40 years old, and one 39 years old, for four top 100 prospects. That is good.

There were also reports that the Mets will take a step back in 2024 and that they won’t try to seriously compete until 2025 at the earliest, maybe 2026. That is bad.

Max Scherzer gave an interview to Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic that was very newsworthy.

The interview was released right after the news of the trade of Justin Verlander came out, giving Mets fans lots to think about.

Scherzer said he agreed to waive his no-trade clause because Steve Cohen and Billy Eppler told him the team was taking a step back next season and building more for the future.
