Have expectations changed for the Knicks?
It seems impossible the team will be at full strength this season
47 seconds into last night’s game it seemed like the Knicks season was over.
Jalen Brunson went down with what looked like a non-contact knee injury. Upon closer inspection, Brunson bumped knees with Isaac Okoro of Cleveland.
Twitter doctors guessed that Brunson suffered a nerve injury and should be able to recover in a couple of days to a week. The best news came postgame when Tom Thibodeau said it was a knee contusion and the “news was good.”
So the Knicks dodged one major bullet but more bullets are coming their way.
The recoveries of OG Anunoby and Julius Randle will determine how far this team can go this season. I am confident Anunoby will return and play close to his peak ability. I don’t have the same confidence in Randle.
It has nothing to do with Randle’s abilities, it’s because of the nature of the way Randle plays. Randle is an incredibly physical player, which could lead to a re-injury of his shoulder.
