Comparing the 2023 Mets to the 2022 Mets
A look at what went wrong this season, and what it means for 2024.
The 2023 New York Mets were a huge disappointment.
Especially in comparison to what they did in 2022. I am going to take a look back at what happened this year compared to what happened in 2022. My goal is to see what all this means for 2024.
How much of what happened is sustainable and predictive of what might happen next season? I will look at things from a team and individual basis.

5th in runs scored/20th in runs scored
15th in home runs/11th in home runs
11th in walks/9th in walks
3rd in strikeouts/4th in strikeouts
2nd in batting average/23rd in batting average
2nd in on-base percentage/18th in on-base percentage
8th in slugging percentage/21st in slugging percentage
2022 Mets rankings/2023 Mets rankings:
7th in ERA/19th in ERA
4th in runs allowed/17th in runs allowed
12th in home runs allowed/18th in home runs allowed
4th in walks/23rd in walks
1st in strikeouts/18th in strikeouts
